Hello! Hoping someone could help. The cytologist from an independent laboratory that I do billing for asking this question below:

FYI Labosome is basically their EMR system.

Hello Tara0513
I do not have enough information here. My gut feeling is that that the brush slide is going to be combined with the other charges if a thin prep was created. You didn't tell me if that other clinician was within your facility or not? Another factor.

Hi Dana! So, we are the independent lab the clinician (the gastroenterologist who is performing the EGD) is preparing the one smear slide works in the ordering providers office no affiliation to our lab. So, the ordering physician for some unknown reason is preparing a slide from the brushing of the esophagus (our pathologist will view) but it seems they are also submitting a whole other specimen in the thin prep vial for the lab to do the whole thing from preparing the slide for the pathologist to view. But now I am starting to wonder if this going to cause an issue with billing, if the other doctor is creating the slide of one specimen from the brushing and we are doing one as well since it is the same area? Now my head is spinning.
