Can you bill telehealth without the patient present? My son's physician is telling me they will now schedule his (ADHD) medication follow up and he doesn't have to be there. This seems crazy to me. Anyone familiar?
Think of it in these terms; a provider would not be able to bill a visit if the patient was not present during an on-site office visit. The same holds true for a telehealth visit. Even with a child it is expected that the patient would be present for an assessment by the provider but visually and verbally. The patient must be present for telehealth services.
